How long can a cake iced with cream cheese icing safely stay out of the refrigerator?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure what the actual answer would be. Maybe 2 hrs?? I'm a bit of a worry wort so I've never left cream cheese icing or anything like that out for more than 1 hr. icon_biggrin.gif Maybe the usda website for food safety guidlines would have something like that posted? icon_smile.gif

It really depends on which recipe you use. If you want it safe out of the fridge for longer than the 2-hour food spoilage standard, use Earlene's recipe (found on earlenescakes dot com).
