can you put fondant over the whipped topping icing? i want to try the whipped icing in the recipes, but I want to make my daughter cake covered in fondant. Would this be okay or do you have to use buttercream under the fondant?

No, you can't cover whipped cream/whipped topping with fondant. It deflates and the water in it dissolves the fondant from the underside, creating a gooey, ugly mess.

Darn. Oh well I guess I will try the whipped topping some other time. Thank you for such a great answer and a really quick response.
