I'd like to use royal icing to do some "fancy" lettering on a fondant covered cake. I've read about doing the pin prick method and also the piping gel "method" to "stencil" my lettering. If I use the piping gel, will the royal icing stick to the fondant alright? Any other suggestions?

THank you!

Doesn't anyone know if piping gel will break down the royal icing or not?

No piping gel will not break down the royal, I always use piping gel with my royal icing when I am writing on fondant cakes.

It will just take a little longer to dry.
