Question about using rice krispy treats for sculptures. I did this on my last cake with the heart on top, but I had to cover the heart twice with fondant in order to cover up the bumps and dips of the rkt's. This is way too expensive. How do you guys cover up the rkts? Do you cover the rkt with royal or buttercream before the fondant? Or is it necessary to cover with fondant twice?

Any help would be appreciated.

I cover with either buttercream or melted chocolate melts. The chocolate melts work great, it's really easy to do and it dries FAST!
