I don't live in London (about an hour away) but cream of tartar she should be able to pick up in an supermarket, e.g. Tesco/Sainsburys in the baking section. In terms of the rest not sure of the local shops but in Watford (outside of centre) there is a Hobbycraft store (see their website)that certainly would sell some of the bits you want. Hopefully someone knows of an independent cake shop that sells supplies in the centre. I know of one in Swindon!

Jane Asher
24 Cale St
London, SW3 3QU

I was at that store once and will never go back, but they might have the things you need that your friend can get.

Thank u all for your help, I am not sure where this friend of mine lives, but when she offered to bring me any thing I might need specially for the cake making hobby, she mentioned a store named " Gill Wing". I think that is how far from where she lives she is welling to go to find anything I might need. Do you know of any store close to this Gill Wing, or do you have an idea if the place it self might sell any of the things I need. I also asked her to bring me , tylose Powder and meringue powder. Do you think at least these two things can be found in supermarkets?

Thanx again for all ur help!

Hey Sansony

I have no idea where Dalston is, but I know there is a good cake shop about half an hour by tube from the centre of London. Their website is http://www.sugarshack.co.uk/index.html

They have all kinds of things, and reasonable prices. It can be a bit hard to find, but you go by tube (Northern Line) to Burnt Oak Station, and then to the rigth as you come out of the station. At the end of the road you turn right again and then its just about 500 metres (I think) on the other side of the road.
Look carefully as their storefront isn't so large.

Hope this helps. icon_biggrin.gif

I know there is one if you take the tube to Tooting Broadway. Exit the station and walk one block and then turn left and it's right there. Can't think of the name but I found them through and ad in a UK cake magazine. The women in the store were the sweetest and most helpful.

Here's one in Dalston

The Dalston Party Party Shop

Dalston
London
E8 2NP

Tel : 0207 254 5168
Fax : 0207 275 9378
Email : [email protected]

Opening Times
Monday - Thursday 9am - 5:30pm
Friday & Sat 9am - 6:30pm

Hope your friend manages to get there for you...

On your list, the ONLY thing that she'll find in a UK supermarket is Cream of Tartar. Everything else she'll need to get from a specialist shop.

Best wishes

Thank you all for all your help, I am happy to let you know that "Mission Accomplished"lol! I just heard from my friend and she told me that she bought from Party Party most of the things I needed. Now she'll try to find from a super market the Cream of Tartar and the tylose powder. I am not sure if she'll be able to get the tylose powder from a super market, but at least she got me the other materials in my list. YUPY!!!

Thank you all for all the help and information. I kept sending her all the information you sent me and it WORKED!!!

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She will find the Cream of Tartar in the section with the flour (it will be with baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, etc).

However, she won't get Tylose in a supermarket. That's only in a speciality shop. It's also calleld CMC. Perhaps if she goes back to PartyParty and asks for that???

Glad she got everything else for you, though. icon_smile.gif
