I am trying to find out how high the average tier is after all of the icing, fondant etc is applied. I would be curious about cakes using 2" and 3" pans. Your input would be appreciated.

I bake in 2" pans, two each for each tier. After it's filled, iced, and sitting on it's foam core board, it's 4 1/2 to 5 inches tall.

Jamie, Thanks so much.

please let me know about the cakes themselves and not the boards they are on. This is to help develop the support system I am working on.

Oh, ok, well, if I take 1/2 inch out, for the board, then 4 to 4 1/2 inches.
