Hi All!

I have read several posts that some folks use vinly to roll there fondant out on. Well, I went to Wal-mart today an purchased a yard of it. Really cheap!!!

Do I need to apply shortening or cornstarch to this. Or, will the fondant not stick to it at all since it is vinyl??

Any tips is appreciated....

try both -- figure out which one you like better.

i mostly use powdered sugar, tho' I've done shortening too.

PS cleans up easier off the vinyl but seems to get everywhere. (is that more gray hair or powdered sugar? -- drat, it's gray hair!)

shortening takes more to clean but stays put better.

one little hint -- on my counter top at least, the vinyl wants to slide around. found that if I mist the counter with water or run a damp rag across it, the vinyl sticks in place (like one of those clear suction cups works better if you wet before sticking on a window)

I have an 11 foot roll ov it taped to my counter in my decorating kitchen. I don't use either powdered sugar or crisco. Just roll and lift every few rolls. If it is very warm or a sticky batch of fondant (my satin ice tends to be sticky) then I will use some powdered sugar here and there. I LOVE THE VINYL!! HTH.
