What If I Don't Use Vegetable Shortening?

I accidentally bought the non-vegetable shortening instead of the vegetable shortening! Will it effect my frosting at all? Please Help! Thanks =]

Uh, yes. your icing will taste, let's say . . ."funny." After all you'll have beef or pork fat in it.

Do you mean lard? No, no definitely don't use that for icing....yuck!! Just smell the stuff icon_surprised.gif

it's not lard. it is shortening just not the vegetable kind. it looks and smells like vegetable shortening but not as smooth i guess. i decided not to risk it and just buy vegetable shortening tomorrow! thanks everyone for your help!
