Almost Finished Cake ?

is it ok to leave the cake out uncovered once finished? seems to be getting the crust is that ok, or should it be covered....thanks

I don't leave it uncovered but I know people who leave them uncovered with no problems.

Uncovered as putting something over the iced cake? Before I got my cat any cake that had icing on it would sit out on the counter (unless the filling needed to be kept cold). If it is un-iced I keep it wrapped tight, but the icing is going to protect your cake from drying out.

Now that I have the cat I put my cakes in a cardboard box since I have the fear of him sampling during the night.
