Do I need a cake board under my bottom layer? I'm doing a tiered cake (6/8/10) and am not sure if I need one on the bottom or not. I want to wrap the base the cake will sit on in I don't know if that matters either.

I think it's always best to put every tier on it's own board, including the bottom one.

It makes it so much easier to move the cake around and you can decorate it and then apply it to the bottom board, if you prefer.

I stick the bottom tier to the decorative baseboard using royal icing if the board is covered in fondant or using glue dots (scrapbooking department) if it's covered in foil or contact paper.
