I'm making mini cupcakes for a wedding this Saturday, as well as an 8" round for cutting. The 8" round will be basketweave with a mixed flower cake topper. What I'm trying to decide on is what to do with the mini cupcakes. The main colour for the wedding is lilac.

What I'm leaning towards is, alternate between white and lilac swirls of icing. On each cupcake there will be a small fondant flower, alternating between a daisy and an apple blossom. I'm just wondering if this is going to look too busy? I was also thinking maybe leave the lilac swirled cupcakes as is, and only put the fondant flowers on the white swirled cupcakes.

I don't want it to look too busy, but I want to spice up the cupcakes to more than just swirls. The bride really does not care. She says whatever I want. Her one and only request is basketweave for the cake. This cake is my gift to them for their wedding.

Any other suggestions? Or thoughts on what I'm leaning towards?

I like the idea of both colors. I would put the flower on the white cupcakes only.
