HI there. I normally use doctored box mixes. I really like to add sour cream and a box of pudding to all my recipes.

My question is - can you include these things in a scratch recipe as well?

Thanks!

It depends on the recipe. But I make a pecan sour cream cake that I got off allrecipes.com. Usually sourcream can be substitued for any recipe that calls for milk.buttermilk or yogurt. I don't know about pudding. Also Sylvia Weinstock's "Classic yellow cake" uses sour cream.

There are tons of recipes that call for sour cream, I've not seen or used one that called for pudding mix though.

You could always experiment and see if you like the results.
