I am going to attempt to make my son's first birthday cake myself and I'm trying to plan it out. The recipe that I have for buttercream sounds so good, but it says it doesn't crust well. I am using fondant, so do I need my crumb coat of buttercream to crust?
Also any tips on how to make using fondant easier? This will be my first time doing it. I found a recipe on here that had good reviews. Also, what about dying it? I got the premade Wilton rolled fondant, but I was only going to use that for my shapes and decor.
Any tips on anything and everything would be really great!!
