How do I divide a 6' cake evenly for garlancd?

I have everything except the cake dividing mat/wheel.

Eyeball it.

Before all these cool tools came out, we were taught to eyeball it by viewing the cake as a clock. I'd use toothpicks and stick them in the side of the cake (very near the top so the hole would be covered by the border) at 12, 3, 6 and 9. Then put a toothpick in the exact center of each of those 4 quadrants (1:30; 4:30; 7:30 and 10:30).

Or if I wanted fewer garlands, insert toothpicks at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12.
