I am so excited I could burst. I finished my FIRST fondant cake today, for my son's birthday party tomorrow. I'm very proud of my first attempt, although I know where all the mistakes are. It was my first try, so I'm learning from my mistakes for next time.
I really couldn't have made this cake without the support, advice and knowledge of the other CCers here! Thanks so much to all of you!
Excellent!Much cleaner than my first attempt. You're well on your way! So, is there anything you found difficult, or did you have trouble with anything?
beautiful work, you have the right to brag, so colorful, bet he picks the balls off first. he'll love it
Great, great, great job! You have every reason to be proud! Look forward to seeing many more of your cakes in the future
Great job. You should pat yourself on the back. I love the colors. be sure someone gets a pic. of his face when he sees this. He'll be so excited!
Thank you ladies!
What I found the most challenging, was lifting the rolled fondant off the table, and onto the surface of the cake. I think I was sweating a little while I was doing it!
My daughter's birthday is in October, so I'll definitely be making her cake and I'll likely annoy everyone with my countless questions again.
Awesome cake you should be very proud!! I recently read on here to get a piece of vinyl from the craft store and use that to roll your fondant then just turn it over onto the cake and it comes off beautifully!!! I've used that "trick" on three cakes so far and it is magic!

that is what i do.. soooo much easier... Roll and flip
It doesn't favor a first attempt in any way! It's so neat and the colors are excellent! I can't wait to see your next one! Congratulations!
You did a GREAT job. It definitely does not look like your first fondant cake. I know you son and everyone at the party will love it. Congratulations!
Wow that is soooo cute!! and the fact thats is a two tier and you made figures - you are right to be proud- you have more than the basics already so think how great you'l be in a couple of months. when i think of my first two tier cake which was for a friend;s birthday ........ i didnt even post the pic here, it was horrifying!!
well done
Wow! Great Job! It's beautiful and definitely doesn't look like your first fondant cake. My first and my second were not nearly as nice. You definitely have talent!
Your cake looks amazing!!!--Great job on your first fondant covered cake. I just started covering cakes in fondant...I was so scared to try at first, and now find them so much fun to make.
Your cake is awesome! I have been decorating commercially for 23 years and I have never used fondant. I am very encouraged now and I am going to try the fondant and gum paste flowers. Keep up the good work.
So colorful! Your colors are fantastic! That's a lot of fondant to make and color - did you do it on the same day you decorated your cake? your bears are soooo cute!! Congratulations, mom on a wonderful cake!!
Good job! I love the bright colors...very cute design too!
Yes, the vinyl is what I use too. Works great.
Thank you so much everyone! All of your kind words mean so much to me! I truly couldn't have done it without the great advice of a lot of you..thank you!
