I am so excited I could burst. I finished my FIRST fondant cake today, for my son's birthday party tomorrow. I'm very proud of my first attempt, although I know where all the mistakes are. It was my first try, so I'm learning from my mistakes for next time.

I really couldn't have made this cake without the support, advice and knowledge of the other CCers here! Thanks so much to all of you! icon_biggrin.gif

Excellent!Much cleaner than my first attempt. You're well on your way! So, is there anything you found difficult, or did you have trouble with anything?

Thank you ladies!

What I found the most challenging, was lifting the rolled fondant off the table, and onto the surface of the cake. I think I was sweating a little while I was doing it! icon_lol.gif

My daughter's birthday is in October, so I'll definitely be making her cake and I'll likely annoy everyone with my countless questions again. icon_razz.gif

Awesome cake thumbs_up.gif you should be very proud!! I recently read on here to get a piece of vinyl from the craft store and use that to roll your fondant then just turn it over onto the cake and it comes off beautifully!!! I've used that "trick" on three cakes so far and it is magic!

Your cake looks amazing!!!--Great job on your first fondant covered cake. I just started covering cakes in fondant...I was so scared to try at first, and now find them so much fun to make.

Your cake is awesome! I have been decorating commercially for 23 years and I have never used fondant. I am very encouraged now and I am going to try the fondant and gum paste flowers. Keep up the good work.
