So my babysitter's two kids, and her SIL who helps with the kids a lot all have birthdays between this weekend and Tuesday. I want to do a cake for them (for free, not anything they requested at the last minute). The problem is that I can't decide on a theme, or how to tie several themes together. The boy is turning 9 and plays baseball and football. The girl is turning 5 and does ballet and likes Dora. The SIL and boy both like to play guitar hero, but I don't want to leave the little girl out. Anybody have any ideas? TIA

How about a multi leveled cake..something like this... http://www.kathyskakesllc.com/birthdaycake037.html
You can use each 'square' to reflect a special interest.
I made something similar on a cake, didn't do it in different levels, just different corners of a square cake. Here it is.. http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1362373
The cake i made was for two adult women, a teenager, a young girl, and my BIL..couldn't get more complicated than that.lol

i would make a 3 tier round cake. the bottom tier i would do the baseball/football theme, the middle tier i would make the guitar hero theme - maybe around the cake you could make the guitar go all the way around it (like wrap it around) if you know what i mean & the top tier make a ballet theme.. make it really girly and pink with maybe a cake topper being ballet shoes or a tutu.

i love cakes that have completely different themes on each tier. i think they are so unique =D
