Hi, this is my very first post, I have a zebra cake coming up and plan to use fondant...does anyone have any useful pointers on cutting out the stripes or is it something i am just going to have to play with for a bit?

I do them every week - seriously, every week. Did one this morning and will do another tomorrow. I roll out the fondant and use my exacto knife and cust random stripes. Place them on the cake. You may only be able to do half the cake, depending on the size, and then reroll the fondant and cut more stripes - you don't want that elephant skin look from those you couldn't pick up right away! Good luck!

I have also painted on the white fondant directly with black powdered food coloring mixed with alcohol. My method is probably more tedious, though!

I just use a pizza cutter and make random pieces. Nothing to it. icon_lol.gif
