How do I color my fondant silver? Also I have a hard time coloring matching, say party plates. Any advice?

When I had to do silver for a football helmet I colored my fondant light gray then after it was applied to the cake I dusted it with luster dust... And the best advise I can give about color matching is add a little at a time till it is a little bit lighter than the desired shade and let it rest overnight . It will darken as it sets.

Maybe someone else has a better technique so here is a bump..

I've painted fondant silver before by taking vodka (or any of the extracts with alcohol in them) and combining it with silver luster dust. Stir it up good and use a paint brush to apply it to the fondant. I did some fleur-de-lis for a Boy Scout cake I did a couple of years ago.

Now if you have large areas to paint silver, the better way may be by using a spray gun. If you're wanting to knead silver into fondant, someone else will need to answer that one.

I have the same trouble color matching so I can't help you there!
