Will My Cake Spoil If I Fill It Today?

I'm making a cake for a bridal shower that is Saturday at 2pm. I'm filling a WASC layer with strawberry filling and cheesecake filling and a red velvet with cheesecake. I had planned to layer and fill it today, ice and decorate tomorrow, and then take it to the shower and stack it and put the flowers on Saturday but I've been hearing nightmare stories about fillings making cakes sag and other things....does that schedule sound "doable" or will it ruin the cake to fill it this early? Should I put the fondant flowers on when I ice and decorate?

I'm NEVER this nervous about a cake, but I'm all worked up this time!

That's the schedule I usually follow since I like to let my cakes settle overnight after torting and filling. Plus, if I have multiple cakes to do, there's no way I can torte, fill, stack, wait, and decorate all in the same day!

Are you willing to consider putting it in the fridge?

I usually keep my cakes in the fridge when "in progress," I tend to use fillings that require it and I think it keeps the cake fresh. Is that a bad thing to do?
