Just a survey, but you buy your own cake stands, or do you make them? My DH thinks he can buy the parts from Home Depot and make some for me. Has anyone tried this?

And where would you go to get cake stands?
TIA!

Do you mean cake pedestals? Cakes by Sam has a really nice selection of silver cake pedestals.

I would love to see a picture of what your husband comes up with. My hubby did a really good job making me an 18" turn table.

My hubby made me stands from pre-cut table tops from Lowes. Added finials as feet (and there are many to choose from), painted in high gloss enamal paint. My avatar shows a ckae on one of them. One has an 18" top, my other has a 24".

I also have three silver plateaus that I got through ebay. For birthday cakes I use drums or scalloped corrugated plastic boards from Hobby Lobby.

I buy my pedestal stands and make some of my stands/supports.

Go to Marshalls and Ross, you might find a deal.

Awesome! Thanks! That is my project for this weekend. DD's birthparty is next weekend, so I want to have something super cute!
