Hi All!

Has anyone ever used melted candy melts to attach fondant decorations to a buttercream iced cake before??

I am making a bow out of gumpaste that is going to go on the side of my cake. I am wanting to place it in the MIDDLE of the cake, not resting on the bottom. In the past I have always used buttercream to attach my pieces. However, I was worried about the bow and fondant ribbon I am using being to heavy. I have had pieces fall off my cake due to the weight on the piece. I was told to use melted chocolate instead of buttercream.

I currently use THIN pieces of fondant decor. on the sides of my cake to prevent the fall. But, with both a thin piece bow and fondant ribbon TOGETHER, I am concerned that it might be heavy???

Does this work? Is the chocolate not to heavy to use on the buttercream??

Any tips is appreciated.

=)

You are right...too heavy. Try attaching to a wooden or bamboo skewer.
