hey everyone

i'm just wondering if i could use candy melts from michaels to make ganache? or chocolate chips or something relatively inexpensive?

candy melts aren't really chocolate (though i really like the taste anyways, lol). i have never heard of using them for a ganache, but that is not to say it couldn't be done.

if cost is the factor, i think you'd be better off with the basic nestle choc chips which are close to the same cost. unless your are baking for a chocolate connesuir (i know i spelled this wrong, lol, but i am to tired to look it up), it will be fine. i use them when baking for family and friends and they love it.

if you are using your ganache as a final coating (instead of a filling or under fondant) for a you may want to spend the money for a higher quality of chocolate.
