Tastes Like Butta...frosting/icing

There is an icing/frosting that has my family going back to the same bakery for years... the frosting is not sweet and melts in your mouth like butter...

Someone I know is convinced its swiss meringue but when I make it, although I have yet to make it properly..., it tastes more like vanilla ice cream. Not the cool thick ultra smooth melt in your mouth feel...

I think she is onto something because I had it at a high end bakery this weekend... I've tried an italian one but that is much sweeter and lighter...

Sometimes the flavoring you choose can make it taste sweeter (or not) I personally like just vanilla, or mixed with Kahlua. JMO. So maybe start with less flavoring and mix in gradually until you get it where you want it.
