I Might Have My First Wedding Cake!!! Help

I'm going to do a wedding cake and the bride wants a very simple ivory and black wedding cake. It will be for 40-50 people. Would a 3 tiered 10, 8, 6 be plenty? I made a two tiered cake for my daughter's birthday, and she saw the pic and wants something similar. But I don't remember how many it served exactly, there were 15 girls and they took some home, we had a ton left. Any help and suggestions would help!!!
ps
take a look at my photos, the bride saw the torquise and black one

A 10" and 6" serves 50, if it is at least 3" tall, so that would definitely be more than enough.
That's a pretty cake! And as everyone else said, 6,8,10 will be more than enough cake!
