I am a new Hobby Cake Decorator and am struggling with how to price my cakes. I purchased the Cake Boss software and it has a place for "price per serving" and "hourly rate". I have a few questions and I hope this isn't tacky by asking.
First, do you charge by the hour or price per serving? Do you charge both?
Second, I am trying to base my prices off of people close to me, competition per se. However, I don't want to undercut myself or price too low because that would not be fair to myself or other decorators in my area. I live in Central Kentucky. Does anyone in this area want to share how much they charge per serving or by the hour?
Anybody in this area willing to share info or any other input is greatly appreciated. TIA
Most people on here charge by the slice. But the price of the slice includes your labor. I would call around to some local custom bakeries and find out how much they charge. That will help you get a better idea of what you should do.
