So I just wanted to share this... Sometimes when my toddler lays down for a nap I'll get on here and go yard-salen through the cake photos. (I know technically that's not a word, but it is in the south lol) Does anyone ever do that?? What I mean by that is sometimes when I get bored I'll just type in a theme and go searching through photos and sometimes I find some great pictures!! I mean it's like going to a yard sale and finding that great find, that diamond in the ruff! I was on here for about 45mins and I mean gees.. there is soooo much talent on here!!! Not that I didn't already know that, but I added 17 new photos to my favs list today!!! Whewww... And sometimes you find those great photos that some how fell through the cracks and not many have noticed them, ya know what I mean? Well, anywho... Just wanted to share that from one cake person to the next lol.

OMG! I do that two, I spend my afternoons going thru alot of cakes, its amazing to look at all those beautiful cakes!

I think I should stop getting on CC wile I'm at work. I can't go back to work! Is it time to go home yet so I can go yard-selen without guilt?

I do just search the pictures. I agree that so much talent. I love the forum as well. You can learn so much by looking and reading. It is so nice that people are willing to share so others can learn.

I know what you mean!! It's so addictive!! I say to myself, ok just gonna be on for a little bit.. Yeah right! An hour turns into my little girl's whole nap time lol. Another cc member described it perfectly... It's cake porn lol! And we're addicted to it lol!

I've spent HOURS doing this! I just got started working with cakes and this site provides me with non-stop entertainment. I "ooh" and "aah" all day over other people's creations! I just hope I can be half as good as some of the talented people here!

Well if we must have an addiction and an obsession, at least this one is harmless lol! I mean who would ever tell us that looking at cake pictures will kill you, shorten your life, ruin your liver, kill your social life... Hmm... Not many people I would think lol.. Well then again, I know my husband thinks I'm nuts for looking at photos on here for long periods of time. Oh well... He doesn't get it! lol

I too am guilty of surfing the galleries looking at all of the beautiful cakes, wondering how someone came up with such clever ideas. I don't quite remember how I stumbled on to CC but now I wouldn't know how to spend those "free" times without it.

I second that Alicia0620! My hubby doesn't get it either! I'm new to cake decorating and I'm constantly on here (for hours at a time) looking and learning! love all the pictures !

I have been lurking on this site for a long time, but I, too, am so glad to have found CC - since my addiction to making cakes is so totally not understood by anyone else I know! It's nice to know you are not the only one out there that spends WAAY too much time drooling over the cakes, cookies, and cupcakes on this website.
The talent here cannot be compared to anything else - including the FN shows that I USED to watch. Now I come to CC and can not only satiate my craving for true cake beauty, but I can learn how to do a lot of it myself! (Maybe in time I'll get the hang of it!)

There is SOOOOOO much talent here, it is unreal...........I like to (when I have plenty of time) to check out the uncommented photos.........I found one of a sailboat on there one time that was incredible! And everyone just missed it!!!!! So, do yourself a favor and check out the latest uploaded or uncommented photos........you might just find that diamond!!!!!!

Now that's something I haven't thought of.. The uncommented photos.. duh. I'll do that the next time I have time to go yard-salen again! lol.

I agree too ...................My Name is Melissa and I'm a CC-aholic! And (muahhahahahaha insert evil laugh) I think I am getting my BF addicted to cake porn as well.

I also sit at my desk at lunch and tell myself that I'm only going to look for a few minutes. An hour later I have to force myself to stop, and I still go back for a peek every once in a while.

My DH doesn't quite get it either, but, he knows CC and cakes make me happy so he just smiles and says "Ok Honey". He is appropriately impressed when I show him a really cool cake though. But after a couple hundred, now he mostly just says "cool". But when I can manage to get the picture in my head to ACTUALLY show up on cake, he always has something nice to say. I do think he's getting tired of cake. He asked the other day "hey hun, can you make a cobbler or something?"

Omg!! I know what you mean!! I asked my husband what kind of cake he wanted for his bday coming up in August ( and by what kind, I meant how would you like it decorated) and he just wants a cake slapped on with some fruit.. Grrr... I think he's getting tired of cake too lol! And he politely comments on cakes I point out to him also. Now when it's my cake, he goes on and on.. Smart guy lol.

I hope that while you are looking and saving, you are commenting also... I have seen soooo many wonderful cakes that will have a hundred views and many saves, and not one comment...

i agree with the Nana i think part of it is that most of us don't have someone that is passionate as we are about cake decorating in our lives so you all are like virtual sisters (and brothers). i read on here one time that a CC's husband calls CC her crack and another cake porn hehe. All i know is that i'm going to Las Vegas today for my husbands work and i can't wait to go to all the casinos looking for show peices - sugar art and chocolate sculptures - i came back with alot of cool pics the last time!
