Hi CC family,

I need to know if i can use regular cartboard as a cake plate, and what do I cover it in. I will be doing a 6" over a 10" so I will have to put the 6"on a plate before setting it on the 10". I have no idea what to cover the plate with or do i just leave it as is.

I am going to use fancy foil for the board that both cakes would be on. can I use fancy foil for the cake plate too?

Help!!

You can use foil, wrapping paper, fancy foil...Just about anything. Although any paper that is not waxed will show grease spots from the icing.

I use food safe foil. Some people use waxed paper, others cover it with clear contact paper, etc. I personally wouldn't want to waste expensive fanci foil on the small plates no one is gonna see. icon_smile.gif

If I use paper or material or anything else that isn't made for food I cover it with a layer of saran wrap. HTH! icon_biggrin.gif

For the plates between the tiers, since they don't show, I just use foil or plastic wrap. Lots of people use press and seal wrap.
