I am making fondant stars for a graduation cake, and want to write something on each one. What would be the best medium for doing that? Should I use edible markers, tiny writing tip with buttercream, or the tube stuff sold at Michael's? Also, I have shimmer dust (pearl, silver and gold) and none of them seems to do much. Have tried on BC frosting, in white chocolate candy, and on fondant, but nothing seems very visble. Any ideas?

I would either pipe it on with royal icing, or mix the silver or gold luster dust with some vodka or clear vanilla extract to make a paint, then paint it on. You could use the markers if you want to, it just depends on the effect you're going for.
