I received an order for 72 cupcakes... half chocolate and half vanilla. Not just plain ol' cupcakes...but these:

The below picture is an example, but they want it a little different:
-Baby blue background
-White Dress
-Shoes & hat in brown with blue flower to accent the hat
-Skin tone would be light tan

Pic 1 is the color scheme of the baby shower & pic 2 is the cupcake design they want...
How much should I charge??

$5 each sounds good to me--hope that's enough--I'm not a cupcake guru. I'd do it for five.

this is so sick, my charge for those is $1.75 each!! I know, I know.......crazy cheap!
I charge .75/cupcake with a swirl of bc, then .50/cc extra to cover in fondant and another .50/cc for the pregnant woman cutout.

I would charge $3.50 each...I charge $2.50 for basic buttercream swirl.

I treat cupcakes with fondant on them like a serving of fondant cake. I start at $3.50 ~ for those I would go with $4.00

Yeah, that sounds about right. Thats a lot of cutout work and detail for each one. They are more mini-cake than cupcake with that amount of detail. I would charge as such and call it a $4.00 per serving charge since that is about what I would hypothetically charge on a cake decorated to this extent.

I would check and see how much the cutters were, and BTW--where can you find them? Those are soo cute!

From what I'm reading, you are not doing the umbrella, and there will be a hat that you will have to custom cut? Is that right? And then you mentioned the skin tone would be light tan, so where does that come in? Are you having to do something completely different on top of the cupcake than what is pictured?

I'm just thinking if you don't have cutters for this stuff, it is going to take a lot of time to hand cut these using a template....72 times. So don't be afraid to charge $4-$5 each.

They look like they are going to be really cute!

I would love to know if you're using cutters, where can they be found?

Wow, you've got your work cut out for you (literally and figuratively)!

Just the amount of time alone, hand cutting for 72 cupcakes is going to be a beast. So, when rationalizing the high cost per cupcake, remember they're paying for your time for the detail, not just the materials.

I can't wait to see how they turn out!

Thanks for all the feedback- I needed it! icon_biggrin.gif

Before I even asked, I was thinking of charging $4/ each one, but I just wanted to make sure hubby didn't slip me a crazy pill with dinner lol

I think I'll say $4.50 each. It is a lot of work, I know.... but I get the feeling that when I mention the price, they're going to change their minds and decide on something more simple lol

As for the cutters, I've seen the scallop cutters at my local store (which I need to buy of this order comes through)....

Thanks for all your help- I'll keep you posted!! icon_wink.gif
