I never make German Chocolate cake but I had a request for one next weekend... I normally use commercial cake mixes and doctor them, it's been a long time since I used a store bought box mix, but that's what I plan to do. Does anyone have advice for doctoring a German Chocolate cake mix? I searched online and only found recipes for adding some icing right to the batter, which the customer doesn't want. Can I add an extra egg and a box of pudding like I used to when I used the devils food or yellow box mixes? If so, what flavor pudding would you add? Thanks for any suggestions!!

Oh do I have a recipe for you! It's not box at all but it is a divine recipe from scratch!

It's sooooo good! Just make sure you don't over bake it! I made a large one for a 60th b-day. I hope you try it!

I made a german chocolate cake last month someone said to substitute the water in the mix for buttermilk. I did and it was tasty. icon_smile.gif Good luck!
