I have never used an Impression Mat on fondant and was wondering...this my be a stupid question but do you cover the cake first or use it after rolling out the fondant before putting on the cake? Thanks all of you out there helping us newbies! icon_biggrin.gif

roll the fondant out. Lay the mat over it. Go over it with your rolling pin to press the design in. take off the mat. Pick up the fondant and place it over your cake.

I tried to do it after the fondant was already on the cake once. Two problems...
-The mat is awkward to place over edges and corners without disturbing the flow of the design.
-By the time you get the fondant in place and set to the cake, the fondant surface has stiffened too much to take a good impression from the mat.
