Ok, I've been a registered member since last year. But it's only been in the last couple of months that I've been a daily (all day almost) visitor. I have come here for help on cakes and even have come for talk on my own private life. As far as help for cakes, I've ALWAYS gotten warm and helpful responses. I have never been given attitude for what I know can be stupid questions that have probably asked a zillion times. I've had users take time and pm me instructions step by step.

There has been a couple of times that I've gotten advice on kids...stepkids...all sorts of things non cake related and it has always been warm and helpful.

This may sound corny but I wanted to just honestly thank so many of you here. From the bottom of my heart, you've meant a lot to the growth of my cake decorating and as a new wife, a new stepmom....I've grown add gotten advice on dealing with my own children too. No one has ever judged me here or anything and I just want to thank you all. Some specifically that have truly said things not directly to me but I took it and ran definitely Indydebi, Edna, TexasRose, artscallion, rylanty...kitagrl...soooo many of you have changed me in positive ways with just words.

Thanks to you all...even if I haven't mentioned you personally...you have probably helped me too (with 4 kids under 10, a hubby and a new cake biz, I can't remember my own name) icon_smile.gif

Thats all...didn't mean to get mushy and all emotional on ya'll but you need to know that you do help people in tons of ways and you don't even know!

Edited to add....if any of you ever come to Vegas, I'd love to do some caking together. No one I know personally cakes so it would be awesome to finally meet someone that I cyber cake with!!

bakermommy4, I'm so glad you started this and I hope you don't mind if I jump in. You started the mushy and emotional, so it's perfect for me. icon_smile.gif

It is amazing how you can feel so close to someone you have never actually met. When my son died in 1998, I "met" a group of women online who had also lost a child or children. They literally saved my life and I never got to meet a single one. We were all over the world and had experienced such different losses, but we had that bond. Thanks to the internet, I had someone there 24/7 - someone who really understood where I was and what I was going through. I will forever be grateful to them.

Fast forward 10'ish years to my introduction to CakeCentral ...

Once again I have someone I can go to when I have a question or need some help (which is often) ... when I need to laugh, need to scream (again often) or even when I need to cry (thankfully, not so often any more). Cakes are the bond that we share, but it is you CC'ers who make this group what it is. Based on what I have "seen" --- many of you would have fit in perfectly with my first group --- you have BIG hearts and I appreciate you all. icon_smile.gif

bakermommy4, I'm still hoping to make it to Cake Camp! thumbs_up.gif

mbt...Sorry to hear about your son. I don't know what I'd do if I lost one of my little ones. I sure hope you make it too, it would be so much fun!!! I don't know how long its been since you been to sin city but we could party like rock stars for the weekend...(well, more like disney stars cuz my kids have me on a curfew LOL). But we could still have a ball.

I never thought there was any online community where I could feel as if I have known people for years and have yet to even meet them once...it's strange, yet welcomed.

Bakersmommy4, I'm from Las Vegas. Maybe we can find other cakers as well and ask Jennifer Dontz and Sharon to come and teach us. That would be great!

I too thank you for starting this thread!
I haven't been cake decorating long and i've asked some goofy questions I know and i've never had anyone talk down to me, or any nastiness.

This is a wonderful group of people who go out of their way in their own busy days to help others starting out and do not yet have their talents.
I've been helped so much already and I know that i will receive so much more help.
It's nice to have a place to call home for cake decorating icon_biggrin.gif

Thank You all from a newbie in New Orleans too!

If you get Jen and Sharon out there, I may have to come too! icon_smile.gif

Oh and be so glad to sit in any class that they would come teach. I wonder how we could get them to come...I'm sure it would have to be a certain number of guaranteed students...don't know but willing to do anything to get it started.

Aww, what a nice thread. I too find myself on here more and more (as my husband says looking at cake porn). None of my friends decorate and it's so nice to be able to talk to people who get it. And I've learned so much. I'm in awe of so many of you.
Bakermomy4 I will be at cake camp too. Vegas here we come!

I saw Jennifer Dontz's website. I think she requires at least 8-10 guaranteed students, a ride to and from the airport and a place to rest her head. She said even someone's home would be fine. PM her for her website or it may be in her profile.

I've made so many posts declaring my love for CC and the family that makes it what it is that I won't repeat myself but suffice it to say I OWE my success and skill (I've only been at this since February of this year) to everything I've learned here.

CC rocks!

GREAT! Now that there are a few people interested, we should definitely get them coming.

I talked to Jennifer and she mentioned that she is fully booked this year. She will be taking new dates for 2010 by late summer this year.

Yes, Cakediosa is right. A space will be needed, a ride for her and also a place for her to stay. She mentioned that a space should fit around 10-12 people and a house would be fine.

Since Jennifer cannot have any classes this year, maybe we can find someone else who can go this year. I'll check on Sharon.

Well I'm gonna definitely see what I can get brewing as far as them coming to Vegas. Cake Diosa...I'll be at Cake Camp too...maybe we have some courses together. It would be so awesome to meet someone who I cyber cake with. I'm so excited about Cake camp.

Another thing is that I would love to get a cake club started here, I don't see where there are any available for us Las Vegas cakers to get together and share ideas and teach each other....and just mingle. I've poured my whole soul into this and want to see this blossom into one of the gorgeous flowers you all have hand made on your cakes.

Maybe we can start a cake club because strip clubs seems to be all the rage here in Vegas. Does a formation of a club involve any type of official approval with Clark County or so?

That would be something I would have to look into and pm you with the answer. There is a never ending list of strip clubs here...but no cake clubs...so not fair. I KNOW if the word spread about a cake club, there would be members.

See... we already have a lot of people popping out from Vegas. Let me know how it works, I'll also do my research. I've always wanted to start a cake club here in Vegas -- kind of like cake church.
