I used the SPS only once before and it worked fine. My husband cut some wood for the base and it was ok. However, I will be making a 12,10,8 and 6 inch cake next month and would like to set the cake on a fondant covered board. The layers will be torted and 4" each. Will this be too heavy?

I hope my question makes sense, I am on cake overload!

Just use at least a 1/2" wood base and I think you will be fine. I have made several large 3 tiered cakes on 1/2" and it works great.......the 1/4" scares me or larger cakes so I just dont take a chance. HTH
