Beginning Stacker Question...

When stacking fondant covered cakes, do you leave the top layer on its cardboard before resting it on the bottom dowelled layer? I'm wondering whether it's the cardboard that's supposed to rest on the dowels or the cake itself that's supposed to settle onto them. Thanks for the help...

You have to leave the upper tier on the cake board. The cake board rests on the dowels.
