in preparation for a daisy cake i have to do this weekend....i purchased gumpaste mix instead of using MMF....what is the main difference between the two when making flowers????

should i use 50/50 gumpaste/MMf to reduce the cost....lots of daisies to make!!! icon_eek.gif

it drys very quickly. I would use 50/50 to keep it from drying too fast while working

gumpaste dries faster than fondant. you can roll gumpaste thinner than fondant.. it is more pliable... lots of people mix it 50/50... i do when i make characters and animals,etc.. i don,t usually mix it with fondant when i make flowers.. some people mix it 70 gumpaste... 30 fondant. i have taken classes using it this way.. hth

This week I used 100% gumpaste for the first time. Let me assure you that if you cannot make your flower PERFECT in less than 5 minutes, do NOT use 100% gumpaste. Use a 50/ 50 mixture. They aren't kidding when they say that stuff dries fast!
