I'm making a pirate ship cake for my son's birthday. The design will be a 2, 10 inch rounds cut in half then placed on their sides with the bottom (rounded part) leveled off a bit. My question is how do I cut this thing in front of guests? I'm trying to decide how it would be cut so I can decide how to ice and fill it. Ideally what I'm thinking is to treat it as two unique cakes and maybe have a cakeboard in between to help with the separation?

Any ideas? Thanks!

Giving this another try... Perhaps a picture would help. This is what the final product should look like. Any kind of help would be so appreciated.
