Icing On The Cake

I need help making the icing smooth on the cake. The ironing technique doen't seem to work for me. Please give me some simple ideas. Thanks in advance

Are you letting your frosting crust?? Did you try the Viva Papertowel and a fondant smoother or just use your Viva papertowel and rub with your fingers... lightly... should smooth out.. hope this helps.. What are you using for icing?

What is the ironing technique?

Sugarshack's buttercream DVD (and every other DVD she makes) is an amazing resource. She demonstrates multiple techniques and produces the smoothest buttercream I've ever seen.

I agree Chefjulie I have 3 of her DVD's and use her icing recipe all the time... LOVE LOVE LOVE IT.. Totally worth the money!

Go to youtube put tonedna1 in the search area. She has a video on icing a cake smooth and it shows the paper towel method. Thats what I use with a fondant smoother, not my hand.
