Tried To Pm, Not Working,need Help On Newspaper Cake

I was going to be making a newspaper grad cake, had a few questions if anyone could please help. Couldn't get the mail to work.
What size pan do you use? 1/2 or quarter?
Is it best to use BC or fondant?
Do you just cover a cake board with "grass" to make the mat?
Whats the best size pics to use, or just a variety?
