How Do I Make This Airplane Cake?

My husband is being deployed next year so I am already planning his welcome home cake. I was thinking of doing an airplane cake of an A-10. I have only completed 2 fondant cakes at this time, but plan to do more. Am I crazy for wanting to do this cake? How should I do it? Do you think I should do a tiered easier cake? I will also be driving 700 miles with it! Thanks for all your help.

If you look in my pics I have an airplane cake that was easy to make. My husband built the wood support so it was very sturdy. If you would like instructions you can PM me. HTH
