Hi all.
I just joined today and have a burning question. What are the best type of cake recipes or mixes to use that are dense enough for carving?. with the box mix I find pillsbury seems to be the heaviest, but it still is hard to carve or shape. love some advice. thanks icon_sad.gif

for a scratch cake good for carving because it is dense is the mermaid bakery yellow cake (you will find the recipe here on cc) Just add extract vanilla or almond flavor for extra punch of flavor

i use chocolate mud cake and freeze it. It is very firm for an extended period of time after you take it out, and is lovely and moist when the cake is completed.
