Hello All!

Wow, there are some beautiful cakes on this site! My daughter's first birthday is coming up and I want to do a fairy themed cake for her. I've made cakes before but never figurines. I'd like to put a fairy figurine on the cake that looked kind of like her.
Does anyone have any tricks of the trade when starting to learn how to do fondant/gumpaste figurines or any tutorials?
Also, is fondant or gumpaste best for this?

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Aine2 has some great "free" tutorials on modeling figures out of fondant. Just do a google search and they'll pop up.

I personally model with a mixture of 50/50 gumpaste and MMF

Have fun and good luck!
