I am doing an all non-crusting buttercream cake and was wondering how to prevent the chalice from sinking in.

The client will be picking up and i'm sure it will slide off if I don't stake it.

Any suggestions?

I would probably go ahead and put a small dowel through it so that you don't have to worry. I don't know if you could pick it up and put the dowel into the cake and then set the chalice back down onto the cake. Just make sure that the dowel isn't too long. You wouldn't want it to poke up through the chalice. Good luck !
