I dont know how the people who made this one did it, but I have heard you can spray regular Pam cooking spray on fondant to make it shiny. I have never done it though, so I dont know if it would make it sticky or anything.
I may be blind...my contacts are due to be changed, but it doesn't even look like fondant to me. It looks like poured ganache that has been darkened.

.
i think i am with you there, i don't think it is fondant either, i was thinking ganache myself
I think ganache too, but I've gotten a pretty good shine just rubbing on a thin layer shortening on fondant.
the cakeboard looks like it is black buttercream.....could be royal.....you could probably acheive the look a number of ways. Imo it looks like it has been poured not rolled, If it was done it fondant i think it would be smoother
That cake looks like it has a chocolate pour. I can see a bubble and we have a lot of cakes at my work done like this. We use a frosting called double chocolate fudge. You can pipe with it and then you heat it up and you pour it over the cake.
