I dont know how the people who made this one did it, but I have heard you can spray regular Pam cooking spray on fondant to make it shiny. I have never done it though, so I dont know if it would make it sticky or anything.

It could be that they rubbed in a lot of Crisco...

I may be blind...my contacts are due to be changed, but it doesn't even look like fondant to me. It looks like poured ganache that has been darkened.

I think ganache too, but I've gotten a pretty good shine just rubbing on a thin layer shortening on fondant.

the cakeboard looks like it is black buttercream.....could be royal.....you could probably acheive the look a number of ways. Imo it looks like it has been poured not rolled, If it was done it fondant i think it would be smoother icon_smile.gif

That cake looks like it has a chocolate pour. I can see a bubble and we have a lot of cakes at my work done like this. We use a frosting called double chocolate fudge. You can pipe with it and then you heat it up and you pour it over the cake.

Looks like this be poured fondant? Very similar to Ganache.
