I have an order for a stand-up 3-D cake of Pablo from the backyardigans. Now I ahve seen the stand up cakes done..there are some great ones in the galleries! Now how do you do that?? What kind of pan do you bake the cake in? Can I bake in a stainless steel bowl?
I am pretty new at this but I couldn't say no I'm always up for a challenge! I've never used shaped pans I like carving so thats not out of the question.
Any ideas or suggestions or the know how would be greatly appreciates!!!
Thanks so much,

My son is too old for me to know who Pablo is... icon_smile.gif Many of the standup cakes are done using the Wilton stand up bear pan. But you can absolutely bake in a stainless bowl. Or bake rounds, stack & carve.

If you carve, depending on how tall your cake will be, you will need boards/support. And a denser cake holds up to carving better than say a straight box mix cake.
