I always wondered where that saying came from "if she was made of cake she'd eat herself" haha
It's fantastic modelling but wouldn't dream of having a cake like that, especially when the day is supposed to be about both of you..she must be very 'me me me me' !!
When you saw the show about this cake, did anyone mention how much it cost?
What did the Groom's cake look like?

I agree with the people who think it is CREEPY. From a technical standpoint, it is flabbergasting. However, like the shower cakes shaped like babies, if I ate a slice I'd feel like a cannibal! LOL
This cake gives me the impression that the bride has to be an egotistical, self absorbed, and I imagine, total bridezilla. If so, I think cutting into the cake would be fun!
I totally agree!
I saw her being interviewed about this cake for some show..She said that she'd always wanted a doll that looked like herself, so she decided to get a cake that looked like herself instead. The groom seemed to be totally on board with it, if I remember correctly. They were both really enthusiastic about this being a cake that nobody would forget...No kidding! Hey, we're still talking about it here, and people email me this picture about once a month, so they're right!
The groom might think it's all cute now. Give him a couple years of living with that and see how he feels!
You can't say the bride doesn't have any self-esteem. She thinks she's so good, she's tastee! Unh huh! You go gurl!

That's why I never got and still don't get the people who have those giant portraits above the fireplace of just the bride. I mean it's not her "first communion" it's her wedding, where's the groom? You do need one of those to have a bride
I always laugh when I see that pic of the bride cake. The real bride is looking at it like "Damn, the cake looks better then me!" She has such a *pissed off* expression on her face.

That's a Southern thing, although I never saw it until we moved to Virginia (I've lived all over, mostly in the South before this, but not as an adult, maybe I just didn't notice them.) I was talking to a photographer about the bridal portraits, and they said that it's kind of a regional thing. I agree that it's weird, though.
And whoever said that the groom had better watch out is right! He's in for it!
I saw the cake on TV. You have to be pretty brazen to want a cake like that!
I had a young couple ask for an EXACT replica of their one-year old daughter. I told them I could not make it look just like her and gave them another decorators name to get them out of my shop. (then called
her and warned her!) How could you decapitate and disembowel your daughter's likeness? CRAZY!!!!
Technically amazing but creepy indeed.
Who wants to bet that the clay top half is proudly displayed in the newlyweds' home? Just like one of those bridal portraits you mentioned, dkelly.
I saw that on cakewrecks.com a while back...If you havent seen that site, it is hilarious!!

Yes I love that site!
Some of the cakes are just so random!

My sister went to visit her online boyfriend at his mother's house, and she had a nude sculpture of herself that was done while she was pregnant, proudly displayed in the front hallway. This wasn't in the South, either My sister said it was truly disturbing to walk in and be greeted by a plaster rendition of the lady of the house's bare breasts...she kept wanting to put her coat on the thing.
Hearing about that reminded me of the bride cake, which I saw on cakewrecks last year.
It's all about people who have more money than taste.
Assuming the top is actually cake...and according to tradition....you keep the top layer for your first anniversary. Looks like they will be freezing her head and cutting into it on their first year to celebrate. Ewwwwwwww. Can you imagine going into her freezer and having that cake top stare back at you for an entire year?
I too wonder how much that cake cost. I hope there is a Bridezilla marathon on soon and catch that episode. I feel sorry for the groom. Can't wait to check out cakewreck.com
lol, can we all say vanity. the detail is wonderful. But to want a cake of ur self u have to vein and self centered.
