This may be a silly question....but can I bake a cake in a can? I am looking to make a beer can cake (larger than an actual beer can) and I was wondering if I could bake in a can (like a large chicken broth can, etc.). Can anyone help?

yes you can - same as in a cake pan. if the can is deep i'd bake at a lower temp and put a flower nail in the bottom so the heat conducts up the nail to get the middle

I've baked in a can many times. Be sure to give a good coat of cake release or whatever you use. Sometimes it is hard to get the cake out. I also have overfilled my cans many times...BIG mess! Put a cookie sheet under to catch the mess, just in case. I second the suggestion by cupcakemkr to put in a flower nail.
