I'm making my tallest cake yet (6, 8, 10, 12) and was wondering if someone could give me an idea of how much buttercream I might need. The cake will be covered in fondant but I need the bc to fill and ice. The recipe I'm using makes 3 cups and I just made a double batch...should I make another double batch or would 1 more be enough? I figured those of you who do this all the time might have a quick answer! Thanks!! icon_biggrin.gif

According to the chart that I use, it takes approximately 18 cups of icing to fill, ice and decorate a 6, 8, 10, 12. You'll use less to decorate since you'll be doing fondant, but I'd be sure to have plenty of icing. I would definitely make another double batch at minimum.
