I am going to be making a peppermint buttercream tomorrow (http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipes_id-add_box-5823.html). The recipe calls for peppermint extract. I don't have any extract, and can't find any, but I do have peppermint oil.

will that work?

and if so, any idea on how much? i can't add drops to taste because I won't be able to taste due to a dairy allergy.

thanks!

Generally oils are much stronger than extract. I have used the cinnamon LorAnn in buttercream. Start with 5 or 6 then smell it. That will give you an idea of where you stand. Maybe you could find someone else to taste it?

thanks! as long as it won't ruin the buttercream to add the oil, i will give it a try. i am already working on finding a tester icon_smile.gif
