I saw a post on this topic yesterday, but I did what someone said and painted my bow with clear vanilla, well the shine did not last overnight.

Now the cake is due in the morning, and I have no edible glitter on hand,

anyone have another tip quick I can use?

Do you have any pearl dust on hand? You can mix clear vanilla and pearl dust and paint the fondant and it will stay shiny. (Is there a Walmart near you that is open all night? They carry the Wilton pearl dusts).

you can rub some crisco on too. although with time that fades too.
also you can steam something, that gives it a good shine. depending on the part to shine, you can pass it over a pot of boiling water, or use a steam machine if you have one (not tried the machine, but i imagine u need to be careful!)
you can also buy confectioners glaze for a good shine.
