Hi all Virginians!
I was reading the Dept of Agr. website for more information on licensing a home based bakery, but I could not find any info.
Does any of you have any helpful information on how to get a permit and if you really need one when you are baking very few cakes part time?
Thanks a lot!!

In Virginia it is allowed by the state but then it is county by county.

It depends on if the county follows the 1998 Food Act

I'll give you a quick list but call into dept of ag and get the application

Arlington - no
Alexandria -no
Falls Church - yes
Fairfax county -yes

The more rural your county the more likely to allow

good luck!
